Chapel Hill Mall in Akron continues to lose tenants, but one of its three anchors may not be empty for long.
Several stores 鈥� including Old Navy -- have . The FYE music and video store closes today, and Macy鈥檚 closed on Saturday.
Crystal Davis from Akron was at Macy鈥檚 on its final day, and sees parallels with the shuttered
鈥淚 feel for people who have lost their jobs. And I鈥檓 hoping 鈥� Macy鈥檚 itself is strong throughout the country 鈥� so maybe they can employ some of these people in other stores.鈥�

鈥淥nce you lose a huge department-satellite store, then everything else kind of rolls down the hill afterward. I think maybe Sears and JC Penney 鈥� while they鈥檙e nice 鈥� they鈥檝e always had a niche. They鈥檝e not been known for clothing.鈥�
The Chapel Hill Macy鈥檚 was among the company鈥檚 bottom 5 percent, sales-wise.
Along with the closures inside of the mall, the nearby OfficeMax 鈥� which is along the Howe Avenue shopping corridor 鈥� is closing as well.
Chapel Hill may have a new tenant lined up for the former Macy鈥檚 space: Stark State College is considering using the empty store as an Akron satellite campus.
